Beginning the Renovation of the Temple’s Surroundings

Work on renovating the surroundings of Dhagpo’s historic temple began with restoring the facade of the Lama House. Indeed, the joints between the stones had become practically nonexistent. After deep cleaning the stones, volunteer artisans sandblasted the facades to give them a weather look. Currently, colored grout is being used to refill the joints between the stones.

Once dry, it is brushed to create a uniform appearance. In this way, all the houses around the courtyard will be in harmony with the temple. Nevertheless, this work is not solely for aesthetic purposes. It is also intended to reinforce the walls. Indeed, the greater the gaps between the stones, and the more bad weather—be it wind, rain, or other inclement conditions—can create leaks and damage the building.

While construction is underway, the temple remains accessible, though the surrounding area secured due to the ongoing construction.
