The Renovation of Dhagpo’s Historic Stupa

The stupa of enlightenment is Dhagpo’s historical stupa, built in 1992. This stupa is a witness to all of the steps of Dhagpo’s development: visits from Thaye Dorje, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa and Mipham Chökyi Lodrö, the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche as well as those from all the eminent teachers who have set foot on the grounds of this blessed place. This support for blessing has seen generations of practitioners express their wishes as they walk around it or meditate beside it.

It has not been spared by the weather—both winter snow and summer heat—and it has been cleaned and repainted on numerous occasions, to the extent that a complete refurbishment became indispensable.

Major work on the stupa was undertaken toward the end of winter 2023, so that stupas would be fully refreshed for Karmapa’s visit to Dhagpo.
